A LOOK BACK AT “THE COMMITTEE”

A Look Back at ‘The Committee’

A program on the influential San Francisco comedy troupe in conversation with author Kim “Howard” Johnson, with special guests to be announced.

The Committee was a San Francisco-based improvisational theater cabaret established in 1963 by Second City alumni Alan and Jessica Myerson. Initially headquartered in a former bocce ball court in San Francisco’s North Beach, The Committee’s decade-long run included numerous television appearances, from The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour to The Tonight Show,  the feature-length releases “A Session With The Committee”, “Billy Jack”, and “Steelyard Blues”  and theater companies  in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

REVOLVING MADNESS • UNCLE’S BROTHER

REVOLVING MADNESS, unlike most groups, takes no suggestions from the audience, plays no games and has no agreed-upon structure or story when the performance begins. One performer begins a scene, others slowly join, creating characters, locations, relationships and transitions, and after about 40 minutes the act is over.
