Afrofuturistix’s “Interface”

Afrofuturistix aims to create improvised stories with all audiences while encouraging more people of color to bring themselves, their culture, history, and lived experiences to improv.
Inspired by the storytelling of Afrofuturism, award-winning improviser and director Mark Duncanson created Afrofuturistix in hopes of bringing different stories to the Bay Area improv stage. Nestled in the sci-fi genre, Afrofuturistix aims to create improvised stories with all audiences while encouraging more people of color to bring themselves, their culture, history, and lived experiences to improv. “Interface” begins with the cliffhanger, then rewinds before “the event” to engage the audience in the characters, relationships, and actions that led to that fateful climax.
Afrofuturistix is Mark Duncanson, Josiah Castillo, Sharmistha Singh, and Ryan Gipson; with DJ accompaniment by Kris Beltran.
