Big Bang Improv

Big Bang Improv is a high-energy free-form improv ensemble featuring veteran performers from the Boston improv community, including alumni of the ImprovBoston Mainstage. Since 2014, the ensemble has toured festivals and theaters throughout North America, Latin America, and Europe, developing a distinctive style that prioritizes momentum, emotional connection, and ensemble awareness.
Directed by Will Luera, Artistic Director Emeritus of ImprovBoston and former Director of Improvisation at Florida Studio Theatre, Big Bang performs without a predetermined format or traditional long-form structure. Guided by the philosophy of “follow the funny,” the ensemble allows scenes, relationships, and recurring patterns to emerge organically, creating surprising callbacks and cohesive theatrical experiences through shared instincts rather than rigid form.
Every performance is completely unscripted, fast-paced, and impossible to repeat. Whether grounded in authentic relationships, physical comedy, or abstract theatrical play, Big Bang celebrates the joy of discovery, trust, and creating something unique with every audience.
Big Bang continues to expand its international presence with performances and workshops across North America and Europe. In 2026, the ensemble has taught and performed at the Toruń Impro Festival in Poland, The Countdown Improv Festival in Tampa, ImproAmsterdam, and more while continuing to develop its signature free-form improvisation methodology through workshops and festival appearances.
