The Five Deadly Improvisors

Kung Fu Improv. Really. In the summer of 2011, five improvisers, who each were accomplished in the San Francisco improv community, had an idea for a new improv group. The goal: to create an ensemble that would perform fully improvised classic Kung Fu movies. The main trait that would distinguish this group was realistic looking stage Kung Fu combat, amble physical movement, dynamic environments, and active chases. The shows are a serious evocation of the genre, not to parody. They have an epic feel. The stories are classic battles of good versus evil, and love lost and won.

The Five Deadly Improvisers have returned! After an almost 10 year hiatus, Five Deadly has been performing around the Bay Area and happy to be bringing our brand of kung fu to the San Francisco Improv Festival.
The Five Deadly Improvisers bring a fully improvised kung fu film to life. Our show is a serious evocation of the genre rather than a parody. None of the fighting is choreographed and nothing is planned. Once a title from the audience is taken, the fighting begins!
The Five Deadly Improvisers got their start during the 2011 BATS Improv Cave Match. Since then they’ve played the SF Sketchfest, Austin’s Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, the Seattle Festival of Improvised Theatre, the San Francisco Improv Festival, Hawaii’s Improvaganza, and Atlanta’s Black Box Comedy Festival. They took a break from performing in 2016 but are now back to thrilling audiences all over again.
