Laura Manasewich

Laura Manasewich is the Associate Artistic Director of the Sea Tea Comedy Theater in Hartford, CT. She performs with the house teams Sea Tea Ensemble, Romantic Baby, and Grantch. Laura teaches classes focusing on intro to improv, character, game, scene work basics, and monoscene.

She is co-producer of the Hartford Improv Festival since its inception in 2014. In addition to improv, Laura runs the stand up program at Sea Tea and the monthly CT Improv Mixer.

Laura has studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in NYC and has studied online writing through Gotham Writers Workshop and Second City Online.

Laura has performed improv all over the east coast, as well as in Chicago and Cleveland with Sea Tea Improv. She loves traveling, meeting new friends with similar passions and seeing what’s cool in new places. Laura is always seeking opportunities to learn more and get better.

2018 Workshop: Building a Monoscene
One scene, in real time, no edits. Sounds simple, right? In this workshop, we breakdown what makes a monoscene work. We’ll dive into creating thoughtful characters with strong beliefs, building a strong environment with lots to explore, and establishing a strong base reality in order to open the flood gates for fun surprises. We’ll work on adding stakes, interacting with our location, committing to choices and creating a believable world that actors and audience alike will want to explore. This workshop will focus on the importance of listening, patience, pacing and working together.
