Spaghetti Jam

We like to give our OCIC (Outstanding Contribution to the Improv Community) Award to groups and individuals who shaped and sustained San Francisco Bay Area improv. While we are somewhat certain many of you have not heard of this SF improv community home for likely hundreds of improvisors from the 70’s through the 80’s, we are certain that without them, SF improv would not be the same.

For over a decade, The Spaghetti Jam put on shows with the original Harold as developed by The Committee (during Del Close’s tenure there) and practiced at Improvisation, Inc. under Close’s former protege Cindy Kammler and was a home for scores of improvisors. The cast included many of our longest lasting Bay Area improvisational actors (Debi Durst, Michael Bossier, John Elk, Jim Cranna, Diane Amos, Doug Kassel, Chris Pray and more) and was a regular drop-in home for others: Robin Williams, Betty Thomas, Joe Spano, among them.

2016 is the 40th anniversary of the year Spaghetti Jam started, and we are excited and pleased to honor our improvisational forebears as they put on their 40th anniversary reunion show this Sunday at the Throckmorton Theater in Mill Valley.
